Searching for emails just got faster.

October 6th, 2004

Searching for emails just got faster. C2C Systems, a leading provider of email lifecycle management software for Microsoft Exchange, today released Active Folders Content Manager version 5.0 with new features to help companies find embedded messages in minutes.

"Attachments, PST files, embedded emails, public folders - there's nothing Active Folders can't find," says Dave Hunt, CEO of C2C. "Even if end users cut and paste an email message with attachments into another email message, Active Folders quickly and efficiently finds the name, company or topic you are searching for."

Both large and small organizations can benefit from a quick search. When the legal department at Ferrari North America said, "Find it now!" IT consultant Richard Mok was able to use Active Folders to quickly scan the network for the message. "Active Folders works and it works well,"
he says.

"Active Folders provides an easy way to scan all active mailboxes for emails," says Dan Gamez, LAN Administrator at Gerald Metals. "I would definitely recommend Active Folders to any company in need of a simple way to search their organization's emails. It is a handy tool that makes IT life a lot easier."

Version 5.0 features include:

  • Searching for embedded messages. Active Folders will search and
discover main messages, messages within messages, combined Outlook messages and attachments in an embedded message - no matter how a message is incorporated into another message, a particular email will be found.
  • Friendly name search. You're searching for john.smith@c2c.com
<mailto:john@c2c.com> . Searching by c2c.com results in hundreds of matches, but a search by name results in no matches. This is because the email's friendly display name is "John Smith." Now all versions of the name - john.smith@c2c.com, "Smith, John" or "John Smith" - are searched with a full SMTP search.
  • Move and copy PST files. PST files, often hidden on local
drives, are portable and easily hidden. The new move and copy function will allow companies to transfer the discovered information to another portable file - such as a tape, CD or DVD - for review by senior management.
  • Search for PDF and .Zip files. Active Folders is one of the few
products that can search .Zip files, but by using Microsoft IFilter, customers can also search a wider range of documents, including PDFs.
