C2C Systems Recommends Enforcing E-Policy with Management Tool

June 7th, 2004

Instituting an e-policy isn't enough to protect your organization from legal woes. C2C Systems recommends backing up that policy with an automated management tool to keep your company protected from potential productivity, privacy and legal issues.

"E-policy enforcement is at the heart of all best practice email user organizations," says Dave Hunt, CEO of C2C, a leading provider of email lifecycle management software for Microsoft Exchange. "But writing a policy isn't enough. Users are too naive or busy, and can't be relied on to follow an e-policy. Enforcement via e-policy automation is the only reliable way to avoid risk and keep your systems running smoothly."

"It is a combination of informing the user and then applying automation to keep things in check," says C2C customer Steven Kieffer, senior network analyst at Schreiber Foods, Inc.

C2C recommends the purchase of an archiving product with multi-criteria rules to ensure retention, reduced risk and optimized performance. "Archive One has 46 different criteria which can be combined in multiple ways, and Boolean logic to produce thousands of archiving possibilities," Hunt says. "Unlike competitive products that just allow single criteria archiving eg Bob's email goes into storage A - C2C's policies can create compound rules, putting Bob's email on Finance into storage A and email related to Sales into storage B. This provides the flexibility to meet the varying needs of customers' e-policies."

All of C2C's products use proactive multi-criteria rules to decide what goes where and when. There's no need for a programmer - administrators select archiving options from a simple user interface and save search criteria for regular and scheduled archiving. When speed is an issue, C2C's rules engine saves the day. One customer that needed to quickly meet requirements of legal disclosure processed nearly six million messages an hour.

More than 2,000 companies are using C2C's products to specify multiple policies, each with its own search criteria, actions, schedule of running and other details.
