Archive One Policy Offers Drag and Drop Archiving

October 29th 2004

C2C Systems, a leading provider of email lifecycle management software for Microsoft Exchange, has added a “drag and drop” component to the best-selling Archive One Policy product.

“Drag and drop archiving,” a term coined by C2C, makes email archiving a water-tight process – it accommodates subtleties and exceptions that automation could ignore. For example, a customer wants email messages related to “child care” or “pensions” kept separate and retained for a designated time period. In general, messages are identifiable and can be automatically archived by a combination of subject and words in the message or attachment, but some times messages may be missed if key terms are not included. Drag and drop archiving gives the end user — the person who has sent or received the message — the ability to make the decision whether and where to file it. All they need to do is drag a message and its attachment(s) and drop it into this folder to get their data securely archived.

Archive One Policy offers a complete how-to of configuration options and the corresponding processes to administer message links, create the new folder and set up the archiving policy. This is typically handled by an email administrator who works in conjunction with the organization’s e-policy.

“Drag and drop archiving is optional and complementary to central archiving policies— customers can implement (or not), depending on their e-policy,” says Dave Hunt, CEO of C2C. “C2C is at the forefront of archiving development, and we want to make our solutions flexible and adaptable to all requirements.”

Archive One Policy, first released in March 2004, helps organizations enforce long-term email retention and retrieval policies. It is part of the Archive One family for Microsoft Exchange, which also includes Archive One Capacity , a single technology capacity management solution to improve Exchange performance, and Archive One Compliance, an archiving application to help organizations meet regulations.
